Leo is a young Republican ready to attend Harvard, when he finds out that his father is King Maggot, lead singer of Purge. He ends up working as a roadie for Purge's reunion tour, hoping to get his father to pay his college tuition. The book is a very quick read, with a lot of ridiculousness. I wanted there to be more about Melinda and Owen, Leo's friends who are following the band as fans. They cared about the music and wanted to be there, which was a lot more than could be said about Leo.

I was shocked when I noticed I hadn't read this book yet. As a huge fan of Gordon Korman's books, it just seemed...wrong. Anyway, I liked this book a lot. It definitely takes some time to get moving, and then the action starts. I think this is maybe for older kids than his other books though, but still not bad(they are a hard core punk rock band after all!). Really funny, I was laughing just reading the first paragraph of the blurb. I'd recomend this.

Leo has it all planned out. He will go to Harvard on a scholarship and continue his membership in the Republicans. That is until he is accused of cheating on a test by a vengeful principal. This one act unleashes Leo's inner McMurphy, the part of him that makes bad choices. Before his mother knows what's happening, Leo is working as a roadie for King Maggot, lead singer of the band Purge. Maggot is unaware that he is also Leo's birth father, but Leo hopes that he will grow closer to Maggot and get his university paid for. The summer is a learning experience for both men, but Leo is not as prepared for the truth as he thinks he is.

Fun book from perennial favourite Korman, with a twist you don't see coming. There are plenty of rich characters and memorable scenes to keep the average Intermediate/Senior student interested. Good stuff.

It was sooooo sweet, and touching. It was funny and cute. The characters were all really great to read about, especially Owen. He was hilarious. I found King to be the most loved of all. Especially since the ending was certainly unexpected, and I really didn't want it to be true. But he was so touching and sweet for Leo.

I loved this book as usual :)
