I've grown up listening to the soul riveting Music of Tina and have had the privilege of seeing her perform live, which was truly one of the many Joys of my Life thus far! Therefore, I'm pleased that she followed up her previous autobiography with a memoir about the second half of her Journey. It was lovely to better understand the events which led up to her first solo album, Private Dancer and the synchronicities which brought about meeting her Love, Erwin. As someone travelling the Spiritual Path, I would have appreciated hearing more about her experiences as a Chanter and Buddhist, which was only covered briefly and subtly. As well, there could have been some more depth offered to her fans and readers by sharing adroitly the lessons learned so far as a Woman. Definitely readable, informative and entertaining. Just could have been a little more reflective and profound.

Tina does a good job telling her story. She tells about her trials, her triumphs, meeting the love of her life and marrying him 27 yrs later. She was faced with health issues and family tragedies. She finds grace and purpose in her darkest hrs. Her story is inspiring.

I wanted more. We ALWAYS want more from Tina. I remember seeing her in a concert at Brewer Fieldhouse in 1970 and I will never forget it. She's such a powerful performer it is difficult to let her be just a woman. That's what her current frailties are telling us now: she's just a woman. We all face difficulties as we age and she seems to be doing well spiritually if not physically. For a follow-up I watched the youtube interview done by Oprah with Erwin and Tina.

I enjoyed this book, it was a quick read as I skipped about 1/3 of it which was about her time with Ike. Her childhood was devoid of love so maybe that explains how she was vulnerable to his abuse. The last third of her book was interesting, about her new husband, her deepening Buddhist practice which she says has helped her through her problems and her health problems. Also interesting was how she gets into her performing persona, it seems like the day to day Tina is so different from how she is when she performs and she explains that. All around inspiring woman.

Tina Turner's birthday was yesterday (11/26). She is 79.

My Love Story is different from I, Tina. Ms. Turner is older and wiser and gives readers the benefit of decades of candid introspection. I was sad to learn how drastically her health has declined since her marriage to Erwin Bach.

Enjoyed it, it was a quick read. However I didnt feel Tina was really sharing much new. At least 1/2 the book was yet about Ike. there wasn't anything too exciting about the other half.

"Oprah sat next to a woman at one of my Wildest Dreams concerts who confided, "I came because I was looking for the courage to leave the man who beats me. Tonight, I found that courage." Oprah told me, "You don't just dance and sing. You represent possibility. When people see you performing, they know you've come up from the depths of despair. It means that however down a woman is, she can be like you." David Bowie used to call me a "phoenix rising from the ashes." I know it sounds corny, but when he said it, it was pure poetry, and his words truly expressed the feelings I had inside. For anyone who's in an abusive relationship, I say this: nothing can be worse than where you are now. If you get up and leave, if you rise from the ashes, life will open up for you. But you have to do it your way. You know, I've liked my life the only way I knew how, and good has come of it. I never imagined having an impact on anyone else..." Chapter 8
