With nutritionally depleted foods, chemical additives, and our tendency to rely upon pharmaceutical drugs to treat what's wrong with our malnourished bodies, it's no wonder that modern society is getting sicker. Food matters sets about uncovering the trillion-dollar worldwide 'sickness industry' and gives people some scientifically verifiable solutions for curing disease naturally.

This is the first documentary I've watched that seriously discussed diet as medicine. There is proof that an organic plant based diet can dramatically improve your health. The word organic is key because even if you are eating non organic fruit and vegetables you would still be ingesting Roundup and other toxic chemicals in your food.

An uneven mix of thought-provoking information and selective promotion of weakly supported methods of disease prevention and treatment.
The film features a lot of dialogue from a small number of speakers, rather than offering a more diverse and balanced examination of nutritional and medical thought and practice.
Weaknesses aside, the film's potential health benefits for viewers who are motivated to improve their diets should make this a worthwhile investment of 80 minutes.

One of the best documentaries I've seen and I've seen many. My good friend is an Neuro-oncologist and he told me about most of the information in this doc. years ago but it was interesting to hear it broken down. A must see for everyone who care about their own health and for others. Will recommend for friends and family.

This film makes two broad claims: (1) the medical industry isn't interested in your health -- only your sickness because that's where the profit is. (2) The food and mega-dose vitamin therapy recommended in the film cures almost everything. I completely agree with (1) but (2) sounds like quackery. They make lots of claims but don't provide much evidence. The film advocates say the medical industry will not accept their research so this would have been a good place to show it off but they glossed over it. Also, whenever I hear anyone talking about Superfoods I just substitute "snake oil" and assume they're trying to sell me a bill of goods or they're just gullible. While the Medical Industry's concern for my health seems to only extend to the profit they can make on my sickness, I didn't have much confidence in the makers of this documentary either. Before engaging in any of their recommendations I suggest that you do a little research of your own first.

Very good information, which I will check out, but I would not go overboard. It pushes the benefits of vitamin C, but I thought our bodies only absorbed a certain amount of Vitamin C. I have seen Food Inc.; Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead and the Gerson Therapy. All good information. Nutrition is always the best way to go.

This video had some good points to make about the value of fresh food and organic agriculture, but those were outweighed by some really misleading statements promoting cures using mega doses of vitamins, coffee enemas, 'Gerson Therapy', etc. Unfortunately, those are not cures for cancer or anything else. Please do some research before believing any of those statements. I am a great believer in taking responsibility for my own health and do not depend on a doctor's opinion entirely. But this movie is really an infomercial for unproven, in fact debunked, and old ideas. I give it a negative two stars.

Film was boring. Had a lot of people sitting in front of camera talking about vitamins and Gerson Therapy. The best advice I got from this film is to drink plenty of water first thing in the morning to replenish and filter your body systems. Watch: "Food Inc.", "Fat Head", or "Fat, SIck & Nearly Dead" instead.

There are obviously a lot of food/nutrition documentaries out there but I really enjoyed this one. Topics included soil deserts, 5 day old produce in the supermarket, deficient/toxic diets, chronic malnutrition, vitamins, treating disease versus treating causes, capitalism, and most importantly, how a normal healthy body will NOT develop cancer.

An absolute must-see. Anyone suffering from any illness, mental or physical...depression, cancer, heart disease, arthritis, diabetes...see this movie. You have options! You ARE what you eat so pay attention and see what happens. Another relevent movie to see is "Forks over Knives".

A better title for this documentary might be RawFoodMatters, or MegaDosesOfVitaminsMatters. This film has a definite agenda -- just so you know. And on the DVD case, an endorsement by John Gray, of Mars & Venus fame. I'll leave it up to you to decide whether that's a plus or not.
