"Cecilia Wilborg has it all. A loving husband, two beautiful daughters and a home in an idyllic Norwegian suburb. When the receptionist at her daughter's swim club asks her to drop off a small boy who hasn't been picked up yet, she knows it is her duty to help. When Cecilia arrives at the address she was given, the house is empty. The boy begs her to take him home with her just for the night. Cecilia reluctantly agrees but she could never guess that this little boy would soon begin to unravel her carefully constructed life and shatter everything she holds dear"-- Provided by publisher.

While I usually really like Scandi-noir, this one just was not for me. It was so slow. Large parts of it were told from the point of view of a meth-taking, crack-smoking, heroin-addicted, drug-addled addict's diary. Apparently she was a meth-taking, crack-smoking, heroin-addicted English grammar professor or something because the writing from the diary was more like literature written by a college teacher than a diary of a druggie. Large parts of the remainder were from the point of view of a spoiled, rich mommy. It was advertised as a "psychological drama" but the only psychology that interested me is my own psychology and the reason I did not put this one down early.

A small boy is left at the pool, and perfect mommy Cecilia grudgingly agrees to take him home, setting off an ever-worsening series of events. Told through multiple perspectives, this Nordic Noir thriller peels back the layers bit by bit.
