There are so many complexities to this well written book. It is one of those books that lingers in your thoughts after you have finished reading it. At first Norman Bray is annoying - a self-centred 'actor' who lives in his own world as an artist. Even as his world begins to disintegrate, Norman continues his 'life' as an artist. However, as life's reality begins to descend on Norman, one can't help but be saddened over the disintegration of Norman's world. As the lead in 'Man of La Mancha' - Norman's transformation is as symbolic as Don Quiote's.
